5 FAVOURITE things about… FAVOURITES!
Gaz here, editor of the Fun to Learn Favourites magazine. I’m here to tell you why our magazine is so great for your little ones. Alright, I might be a little bit biased, but having a little boy I’ve seen first-hand just how much fun our magazines are, and the joy they bring to little ones. So, here are 5 reasons, in no particular order, why Favourites is so cool!
1. STICKERS
There’s just something about them isn’t there? And like that famous confectionery brand, kids (and grown-ups) LOVE them! In Favourites, you get LOADS! Issue #404 had 107! Stickers are great for a child’s hand-eye coordination, and most of all, they’re FUN!
2. SCREEN-FREE
“I’m just finishing my level!” or “Let me just watch this bit!” We’ve all heard those dreaded words, haven’t we? Our magazines offer a great alternative to staring at screens. They’re packed with activities, puzzles, crafts, recipes, games, stories and colouring pages! You might also see a lift in their mood, as some research suggests extended screen-time can sometimes lead to irritability and tiredness.
3. WORKBOOKS
Our workbooks follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), so they’re a fantastic way to introduce pre-schoolers to things like pencil control, letter-forming, basic counting and problem solving! But the best part is, as they feature their favourite characters, it doesn’t feel like work at all. Think of it as disguised learning, or a catchier name, like ‘Fun to Learn’.
4. STORIES
Stories are a great way to let children’s imagination run wild. They can also be a lot of fun. When reading through our picture stories, your little ones get to see their favourite characters and you can encourage them to read out some of the easier words. But the best bit? My tried and tested approach is making up some really silly voices and noises to add to the fun and get lots of easy giggles.
5. TEAMWORK
Some of our crafts and recipes might require an adult helper with cooking or cutting out. These activities are a great way for you and your little one to take time together and make memories that will really last. Working together you can follow our simple steps to create all sorts. From cookies, to rock cakes, and from simple cut-outs, to 3D playscenes that deserve a high five!
TOP TIP!
Why not use the toy from the cover as an incentive? We find that using the toy as a reward once they’ve finished the workbook makes them more determined and focussed.
