We recently had the privilege of being invited into Friarswood Primary School in Newcastle-under-Lyme by the Co-op Academies Trust.
We had a really lovely day with some very well behaved and engaging children in the Nursery and Reception classes.
The purpose of our visit was to hold workshops about emotions and what they mean. This was in support of Children’s Mental Health Week.
We explored our feelings using activities from our Fun To Learn magazines.
After an introduction using the Feelings Badge story from Fun To Learn Hey Duggee magazine, we worked in small groups and created an emoji buddy, used emotion cards to recognise feelings and understand when we might feel that way and also coloured in and cut out feelings badges.
One of our main aims is to create content that results in positive feelings of accomplishment and pride, and opens up opportunities for families to chat, play and bond. We strengthen this message with our Take Time Make Memories campaign, demonstrating the positive impact magazines can have on children’s mental health.
The Co-op Academies Trust was delighted with how the day went, read more here www.coopacademies.co.uk/childrens-mental-health-week.
